Things to Remember |
Always use a steel tape for accuracy
- make sure the tape measure is straight and tight when you
take your measurements
Always measure in millimetres (mm)
Measure all windows, even those that
appear to be the same width and height
Don't forget the stacking height of
your chosen blind (refer to the table at the bottom of this page)
Do not take any deductions (i seek will
do this for you) |
|
Inside Mount |

|
To measure a Venetian
blind on the inside of your window frame you need at least
30mm depth for a flush mount. With this depth, the blind
will go up and down without any obstruction.
Ensure you look for any
knobs, handles, winders or the inner window frame that may
obstruct the blind. If you have any obstructions you will
need to mount your blind to the outside of your window frame.

Choose which side you want your controls - either
left or right and confirm you have measured the inside
of the frame. |
|
Outside Mount |

|
To measure a Venetian blind on the outside
of your window frame measure the width from the edge of the architrave
to the edge of the architrave at the top of your window frame.
Measure the drop from the top of the architrave to the bottom of the architrave. This measurement may be increased if you want your blind to drop past the bottom of your window frame or to the floor.

|
Corner Windows |
If you have a corner window where the blinds
need to meet for maximum privacy, measure one blind as a
through blind and one blind as a butt blind. When measuring
the butt blind you need to deduct 32mm off the measurement. |

Inside
Mount
Your blind will come
with installation brackets and screws. Once unwrapped always
handle your venetian blind from underneath the metal head
rail. Follow these steps for an easy installation:
-
Brackets (Fig 1) are to be placed 90mm from each end
and evenly throughout the rest of the blind. Make sure
the middle brackets are placed between the ladder tapes
so they do not interfere with the inner workings of the
blind.
-
Use a pencil to mark bracket positions.
-
Now place one screw through the top of each bracket to the underside of the window frame. (Figure 2)
-
To install your blind, hold the blind from underneath
the metal head rail and hook the front lip of your head
rail over the entire brackets (Figure 3). Note the slight
angle on the head rail when installing.
-
Push the head rail toward the window to get the rear
of the head rail to hook under the rear lip. This can
generally be done in one action but with larger blinds
you may need to work from one side to the other.
-
Your blind is now installed - and can be lowered.

|
Regular cleaning of your 25mm Aluminiun Venetian blinds will help minimise dust buildup.
-
Extend your blinds all the way.
-
Tilt the slats up and dust lightly with a cloth or duster.
-
Tilt the slats down and dust the other side lightly with a cloth or duster.
-
To avoid damage, don’t exert too much pressure or crimp the slats.
-
A vacuum cleaner may also be used. Place the soft brush attachment on the hose and run very lightly over the slats first in their up position then in their down position. You should first test a small area of the blinds to make sure the suction is not too great. Some vacuums may damage the slats.
-
For individual stains on any given slat, spray with non-abrasive cleaner, wait 1 to 2 minutes, and wipe with a soft cloth.
